Being Prepared for Te Kei o Te Waka

Te Kei o Te Waka start with getting to know each other.

Welcome back our teacher aide Mama Corrine Wallace who helps our students with extra learning support.

Kia orana, Talofa, Fakalofalahi atu, Kia ora Whanau,

Last week the tamariki of Te Kei o Te Waka settled into the routines of our class and they are ready to take on the challenge to aim to achieve their first Taumata.  Most of the activities were based around our School Pepeha, School Karakia, and We are Kelston Unit.  The Tuakana Year8 and Teina Year 7 are starting to get to know each other through small games and activities that builds confidence to share about their own whanau and own personal goals.

Contact with Parents:  In the next few days Mrs Tamati or Whaea May as the tamariki would call me will be giving you all a call to make contact and have a quick chat about your child.  If you would like to contact me you can email me on mayt@kelstonint.school.nz or send a text on 0211376760 and I will reply or call you during my lunch break.

IMPORTANT NOTICES: Team Taonga camp is next week on Wednesday 14th February through to Friday 16th February at Chosen Valley Christina Camp.  Check out the website www.chosenvalleycamp.org.nz.  The camp will cost $80 but we know you have just spent a lot of money on uniforms and stationery so we have organsied that you pay $40 now and the balance of the $40 before the end of Term One.  Hope that will be of help and please make sure your child hands in the permission for the camp this week.

The class timetable has been completed and all programmes will begin starting tomorrow including the extra curricular activities such as Library, Kiwican, Mandarin, TOPS and Culture.  Please make sure you have had a discussion with your child in regards to their TOPS and Culture choice.
