Kia ora Whanau. Kia ora tamariki.
Welcome to 2018 and I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday and are hyped to begin your mahi.
Just a reminder to check out the Art Posts every week to see what the students have been doing during the week.
I’m really excited to be with our tamariki in Design Art this year, to teach them traditional and contemporary design techniques relevant to our Kelston communities.
I hope to give our tamariki many opportunities to showcase their own creativity doing things they enjoyed making.
This year students will go to each tech once which means they will spend approximately 12 weeks with each.
In Term 1 our tamariki will be looking at simple and complex Maori and Pasifika elements and will learn how to incorporate them into 2D and 3D design structures.
You are welcome to drop into the art room for a visit. Just remember to leave a message at the office letting me know when you will be coming.
Dont forget to sign in at the office when you arrive and sign out when you leave.
Your child will need to bring a folder for planning and a pencil.
When we paint or do pottery they may want to bring an OLD shirt to cover their lovely new uniforms. We have aprons but it is amazing how paint and plaster gets onto the places that arent covered up. A long sleeved shirt should do the trick.
Looking forward to meeting with you very soon.
