In the last few weeks of Term 3 the Wakaama Tops was able to have some water time to practise what they learnt in class. They were all amazing and managed to show the correct paddling technique, timing and team work.
We want to thank the Cook Island Outrigger Canoe Club for letting us use their canoes, paddles, life jackets. The club is based at Ian Shaw Park, Panama, Mount Wellington. A special mention to Mereana Hona, Nana Monga and Joel Tamati for their assistance.
Here are some thoughts from our paddlers:
“What I enjoyed about the Wakaama session was that we could work together as a team! Also it was very fun.” Zayna Rm 3
“I enjoyed paddling with everyone and my favourite part of the water session was steering.” Dashon Rm 4
“What I enjoyed at the Wakaama water session was trying my best to keep in time with everyone else.
We look forward to offering Wakaama TOPS in 2018.
